NBPA executive director David Kelly told SI.com's Chris Mannix that reworking or eliminating the second tax apron will be a primary goal in the next CBA talks. He argued that the league already had five different champions in the five years before the apron arrived in 2023/24, and said there should be cap exceptions that help teams keep homegrown stars. Kelly didn't rule out a work stoppage but hopes to avoid one. The CBA runs through 2029/30, with an opt-out deadline of Oct. 15, 2028.
