Thunder rookie Otega Oweh had surgery in New York to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon and will miss his entire first season, the team announced. He was hurt in overtime of Tuesday's preseason game against the Pacers and couldn't put weight on his right foot. The 41st pick, a two-way player out of Kentucky, averaged 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 23.4 minutes over four preseason games. He is the third straight Oklahoma City draftee to lose his first year to a major injury, after Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber (both ACL tears).
