Teams have until Monday night (Oct. 19) to set opening-night rosters, but most cuts are expected today and Saturday. A player waived on Saturday clears waivers on Monday, the day before the season starts; one cut on Monday spends two regular-season days on waivers, which costs the team roughly $16K to $45K in dead money for a minimum-salary player. Teams cutting players with guaranteed money, like Memphis, or converting Exhibit 10 deals to two-way contracts, like Boston might, can afford to wait.
