Joel Embiid says he will stay in the locker room while the Knicks raise their 2026 title banner and hand out rings at Madison Square Garden before Tuesday's opener against Philadelphia. New York swept the Sixers in the second round on the way to its first title in 53 years, and the game is LeBron James' first official one in a Sixers uniform. Embiid closed the preseason with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in 29 minutes on Friday, but Boston won 125-120 in overtime in Philadelphia behind 21 points from Hugo Gonzalez.
"I don't really feel like watching the whole ceremony, so I guess I'll be in the locker room." — Joel Embiid
"But it's a regular season, so it's time to go. First game, there's nothing really special about it." — Joel Embiid
