Dallas is the frontrunner to sign Walter Clayton Jr. once he clears waivers on Wednesday, Marc Stein reports. Memphis waived the 2025 No. 18 pick on Monday to get down to 15 standard contracts; any team claiming him would take on his guaranteed $4.19MM salary for 2026/27. Sacramento, Miami and Golden State have also been linked to him. The Mavericks have an open two-way spot after cutting John Poulakidas, and Clayton is eligible for a two-way deal. He averaged 7.8 points and 4.0 assists in 69 games with Utah and Memphis last season.
